Replacement Factors

H2O needs an OUT! SO if it's sticking instead of dripping away!

When it's touching, it never separates and will eventually leave havoc behind it's trail. There could very well be a Window Sill beneather needing replacement next! Just Typing Folks ...... So, think this out! You'll Thank Yourself for Years to come!

          The organized building industry has been there done that throughout the years; when executed per design and proper code it alleviates undue (saves$$) costs.

    This simple drip edge flashing is one exterior design that does You a few decades of favors. If installed correctly ...... We want that rain/moisture going from the roof to the ground! That gruff upper sketch shows the drip edge tight to the fascia board, when this occurs H2O falls from Above then rolls down the front and causes immediate ruin of that particular surface. The image below has been altered too miss on the drip (only by tiny amount) and fall to ground!

Bobbing Sheetrock or Plasterboard

Craigs Clout ; Tip "O" the Week Although my name is Craig, allow me to be Frank Carpenter for the moment with a spin off of what I previously eluded to from last weeks blog of "The Tool" the String. So heres "The Skinny" as my Pops used to say. It starts with this inanimate object, because the thing that hangs @ the end of it to assist us wood never be there! That being a Plumb-Bob. From Up to Down or Down to straight back Up. Atop buildings over 40' feet in the air we've often relied on this basic in purest forms of devise, sure, having used a so called straight stick. With a level reading plumb on that piece of milled Gnahl lumber, You got on the special order of the many sticks required on your "Special Order Minimum" you payed handsomely enough for, it might be 26 Ft. and the chances that its any where near actually straight wood be a whole other story for the grandkids some day. - Just to be clear: Level is horizontal and Plumb is up-and-down or vertical. The wieght of this apparatus (once it stops swinging) will give you a pinpoint 100% reclaimed woodshop percent mark from top to bottom to measure by or a control line to go by. And all that you're atempting to erect is exact, and that does matter at the end of the each and every day ! Egyptians; "The Egyptians invented the plumb bob more than 4000 years ago. They used it to establish vertical references that were indispensable in the construction of their buildings, pyramids and canals." Storage is often private, so when it is shared, this is one design correcting THAT issue! IE.: The Carpentry Wall here was Built from wood, in the shared garage is now a wall that seperates both Duplex units .

Note: the bottom plate is a pressure treated 2x atop the concrete floor. And at the driveway end, this structure was built out of a pressure treated stud to minimize any moisture coming under the front seal & causing wicking damage! Hence: (go the extra mile for Your "why")

Carpentry??

I recently received a call from a potential future Client (little did I know @ that time)! So, this bizarre "ask" of them was quite simply, "Is there anything You can do with this" ha-ha. After studying their this, I went back to My/Your neighborhood woodshop, & grabbed an afternoon tea, Sat too think about It a bit ........

After measuring some of My piles an idea came to Me! Checked my neighborhood Woodshop again, then made that ever important phone call to set-up that appointment too see them a 2nd time.  

As it turns out I'll be doing some Furniture repairing for an old drawer to fit the area, so it'll need some clever creative fixing/Repairing. 

Now comes in the E6000, the wood to plastic help I'll be requiring. Just way too cramped for this Carpenter, so any gun or even hammer won't work, ok, I'll shift this Carpenters gears a bit and makes Us All happy!

Solve-Fab-Sustain 101

My next challenge was following another Tradesman that recently completed his contract. This could be a common Low Siding mistake or a whole wall application to be waterproofed, same as before, because here the flashing paper needs some serious methodical attention. This is a necessary (Elect. Panel) ext.wall protrusion, but it actually doesn't have bordered flange at the bottom.

Now, If the paper is laced & overlapped, weaved (old to new) exactly per code, it'll pass inspection & be perfect forever. A Carpenters custom crafty pair of in bay blocks will work as the foundation backing to do just that. Let's get too Waterproofing! If it's Wood it's All good!! The Carpenter Solved it Again & the neighbors gave their visual approval ......

Fixing Fried Skirts lol

          Hey there!! Let's start with; I'm very bless to have the privelage of "getting the call" first off and then to be able to help this young Gent. So, Him being this next assiting New HomeOwner Boss of mine this time, was a gem I got too work with. That ended up discounting His Final Cost for Him!

He was My Boss for His New Condos damaged stair skirt Job rebuild (image before below). With a bit of patience this turned out great, and turned that

into this (next image), identically flipped to use for both sides. But the pattern needed lots of adjusting and (We lost Mr. Jiggy, he had to say goodbye!) IOW, the proper tool to use here. But the end results made it worth the sacrifice. A non-stop vision forward & Remain focused on Our Goals too fruition ......... Always!!

Carpentry 101

One more dust shelf eliminated. Just chaulking, no extra shoe moulding here. When the Mag. shows it'll be a Carpenters Quarterly Win-Win, so, no shoe, and give it too the Painters!

So ..... Custom, custom, super custom sized new lumber and altered finish trim put together to give this (mage above) a good chance. 

Then She hired, these referred strangers but (really great painters) for the finalizing, and they show up too complete this beautiful Foyer, that gives the Owners enjoyment for a lifetime!

Carpenters/Porch-Siding

 When He called I acquiscently 

shrugged off the multi-family (rental) tailwind and thought if nothing else a Low-Siding redo is My forte, turns out He was very polite as well as a true gentleman over the phone. So I decided to further look into it.

Then I started too realize He wasn't just shopping, this IS an extremely customized project, and He really liked My work, plus  was very serious too make His vision become a reality. And needed My help!

This hand selected vertical Redwood Siding went from floor to ceiling, I like the striped spaced look between each of these 1×12's, that allowed a form artsy (NFT) quality that really brought out that "Wow" factor here, with tons of R.O.I. curb appeal. You can see here the existing window framework surround Made this Siding Job a fun challenge!

This project sites fabulous Painter was Spectacular in so many ways! His name; Jusvin Lopez 714.733.0715 

And He Will wow You with His talents, for sure, a true Artistic visionary himself. And His fine Young helper Ruby, really impress All that Get to work with them.

Retro fitting needs only precise measurements for new wooden base plate backing for the screws hold the base plates and make a strong landing spot for the hinge pieces.
